Hog & Dairy Manure Treatment
The application of MICROBE-LIFT®/MT is to follow pit volume reduction via pull plug waste
removal. Apply at the head of the pit away from the plug discharge area. For optimum treatment results, dilute using 4 to 5 parts tap water to 1 part MICROBE-LIFT®, then apply to pits.
For new barns or first application, wait until manure is in the pit prior to adding MICROBE-LIFT® to assure the biology has an adequate energy source. Always follow the application use instructions with adequate material added on the first application. This considers
the full capacity of the pit and not the volume of manure in the pit at the time of treatment.
Follow weekly treatment rates for the next two weeks, then convert to monthly treatment.
Treatment after dump down or pump out - if pump down eliminated most to all of the manure
and the barn is cleaned and sanitized, the farm must start treatment as suggested in the use
tables. During pump down no additional product is required, other than normal monthly use
rate. If the manure is removed 70-90 percent with no sanitization and a fair supply of treated
manure remaining in the pit, start treatment with the four week use schedule eliminating
the initial heavy dosage. At the same time, if the pits conditions are not ideal, and under low
water start treatment as a per standard instruction.
Evaluate barn conditions and water use as low water may lead to manure storage issues.
When necessary, add water to the pit after pump down at a rate of 1,000-2,000 gallons.
Product must be stored in climate controlled storage before being applied. If product is
exposed to freezing temperatures, the living micro-organisms may die prematurely.

Mitigate Foaming Problems
MICROBE-LIFT® microbial technology reduces
the fat, protein and fatty acids believed to drive
the generation of methane, reducing conditions
for pit foaming.
Solving Pit Problems Naturally
Microbe-Lift Hog-Sow Farm Pull Plug Barns
Before application
of MICROBE-LIFT on
manure lagoon. Starting
with a completely solid
surface crust
• Apply 30 gallons of Microbe-Lift/MT for each one
million gallons of pit volume
• Based on results, repeat the application within 5 to 10
days using 1/2 the rate of addition, then apply 10 gallon
combined product per month for continued control
“We have been using
Microbe Lift ever since we built our first barn
in 1999. We have never had a sludge build-up
issue, we have never had any pit foaming, and
our manure quality is always good. We are
very pleased with the product.”

Standard Application:
120 days following
initial application of
MICROBE-LIFT to manure lagoon. Removal
of surface crust and
associated odors.
• Large Pits = 7,000 - 20,000 gallons
• Small Pits = 6,000 gallons or less
1st Application at start of treatment:
• Large pits = 1 gallon
• Small pits = 1/2 gallon
After first application, wait one week, the
second week treatment rate is 50% of the
first application volume:
• Large pit = 1/2 gallon
• Small pit = 1/4 gallon
Maintenance: After the first 2 weeks of treatment, at the higher rate of use:
• Large pits = 1 quart/weekly
• Small pits = 1 pint/weekly
To Determine the Volume of Manure Storage:
• Of Rectangular Pits: (LxWxD) x 7.5 = Gallons
• Of Round Pits: 3.14 x (RxR) x H x 7.5 =Gallons
